Trusted Add-in Catalog (Trust Center)
IT guide: publish x0’s Excel and Word Office.js add-ins through
File → Options → Trust Center → Trusted Add-in Catalogs, or upload the same
XML to a SharePoint app catalog / Centralized Deployment.
Portal page: /addin/catalog/ · Bundle zip: /addin/catalog.zip
Trust Center fields
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Catalog Url | UNC of the folder that contains the manifest XML files (e.g. \\fileserver\OfficeAddins), or SharePoint site collection URL (e.g. https://contoso.sharepoint.com/sites/AppCatalog). Not an https://…/manifest.xml URL. |
| Trusted Catalog Address | Same value after Add catalog. |
| Catalog Type | Network share or SharePoint. |
| Show in Menu | Must be checked or SHARED FOLDER stays empty. |
Why newer Excel asks for a “URL”
SharePoint catalogs use an https:// site URL. Network shares still use a
UNC path (\\server\share). Excel’s Catalog Url box accepts both; catalog
type is inferred from the address. A plain website folder on x0 is not
a valid Catalog Url — x0 hosts the manifests and a bundle zip; your
tenant hosts the catalog address.

Yes — Trust Center “Show in Menu” catalogs are per-user registry entries under:
HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\WEF\TrustedCatalogs\{e7b2a91c-5d4f-4a8e-9c31-2f6d8b0e4a77}
| Value | Meaning |
|---|---|
Id |
Same GUID (stable so re-runs update one row) |
Url |
UNC catalog path |
Flags |
dword:1 = Show in Menu |
From the unzipped bundle (close Excel/Word first):
.\Install-x0-TrustedCatalog.ps1
.\Install-x0-TrustedCatalog.ps1 -CatalogPath '\\fileserver\OfficeAddins'
.\Install-x0-TrustedCatalog.ps1 -DownloadFromPortal
Default local folder: %ProgramData%\x0\OfficeAddinCatalog. If you run elevated,
the script can create an SMB share \\PC\x0OfficeAddins; otherwise it falls back
to an admin-share style UNC for the local machine.
Microsoft documents the same registry shape here:
Sideload from a network share.
Activate in Excel
- Restart Excel after Trust Center / script changes.
- Home → Add-ins → Advanced → SHARED FOLDER.
- Add x0 connect.
- Home ribbon → Connect x0 → sign in → token → load table.
See excel-addin.md.
Activate in Word
- Restart Word.
- Home → Add-ins → Advanced → SHARED FOLDER.
- Add x0 Word.
- Home ribbon → Connect x0 (same x0 login/token as Excel).
See word-addin.md.
Manifest URLs (not Catalog Url)
| Add-in | URL |
|---|---|
| Excel | /addin/manifest.xml |
| Word | /word/addin/manifest.xml |
Use these for Centralized Deployment (Microsoft 365 admin center) or when
uploading into SharePoint. Prefer Centralized Deployment for org-wide production;
network-share catalogs are Windows-oriented and Microsoft marks them as a
testing / limited path.
