Terms and conditions

Last updated: 16 July 2026

These terms govern your use of x0 at x0.co.nz (the “service”). By creating an account or using the service, you agree to them. If you do not agree, please do not use x0.

1. Who we are

x0 is operated from New Zealand by McPond (the service provider behind x0.co.nz). Questions about these terms: davemc@mcpond.co.nz.

2. The service

x0 connects your Xero organisation to tools such as desktop Excel. You authorise Xero access; we hold connection credentials and serve accounting data you request through our API and portal. Xero remains the source of your books. Your use of Xero is also subject to Xero’s own terms.

3. Your account

  • You must provide accurate account details and keep them up to date.
  • You are responsible for activity under your account.
  • You may reset your password at any time through the portal (or by contacting us if you cannot).
  • You may rotate or revoke API keys at any time from your dashboard.

4. API keys and secrets

We issue API keys (and related credentials) so your tools can call the service. You must keep them confidential — treat them like passwords. Do not share them in public repositories, screenshots, or unsecured channels. If a key is compromised, revoke or rotate it immediately. We are not responsible for misuse that results from a key you disclosed or failed to secure.

5. Fees and plans

Some features or usage levels are free; others require payment. Current plan limits and prices are on the pricing page (generated from our live catalog) and in your account. Examples of limits that may apply include:

  • concurrent or high-frequency reads (for example, dozens of simultaneous requests — higher capacity needs a higher tier);
  • organisation or dataset size (for example, if your Xero data is measured in gigabytes, a higher tier may apply);
  • rate limits, refresh frequency, and number of connected organisations or API keys.

You agree to pay fees for the plan you select. Unpaid amounts may result in suspension or termination of access. Fees already incurred remain payable.

6. Fair use

You must use the service reasonably. In particular, you must not:

  • abuse connect / reconnect / revoke flows (for example, repeatedly connecting and invalidating OAuth in a way that burdens Xero or x0);
  • bypass or probe rate limits, quotas, or security controls;
  • use the service to attack, scrape beyond intended API use, or disrupt others;
  • resell or sublicense access except as we expressly allow.

We may throttle, suspend, or terminate accounts that create unreasonable load or security risk.

7. Your data

You retain ownership of your Xero and business data. We hold data in transit and related connection information so we can provide the service, and we take reasonable steps to keep it safe. How we handle personal information is set out in our privacy policy.

You may ask us what data we hold about you and request access or correction in line with the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020. Contact davemc@mcpond.co.nz.

8. Your responsibilities

  • You must have authority to connect each Xero organisation you link to x0.
  • You are responsible for how you use exported or refreshed data in Excel and other tools.
  • You must comply with applicable law and with Xero’s terms for API and OAuth use.

9. Ending the service

You may stop using x0 and close your account at any time. You may also disconnect Xero and revoke API keys at any time.

We may suspend or terminate your access if you do not pay fees when due, breach these terms, create a security risk, or abuse the service. Where practical we will give notice; for serious security or abuse issues we may act immediately.

After termination we will stop providing the service and may delete or anonymise account data within a reasonable time, subject to legal retention needs and our privacy policy.

10. Availability and changes

We aim for a reliable service but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may change features, limits, or these terms from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page (and may be notified by email or in the portal). Continued use after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms.

11. Liability

To the extent permitted by New Zealand law (including the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 where it applies and cannot be contracted out of for consumers), we exclude liability for indirect or consequential loss, and our total liability for any claim relating to the service is limited to the fees you paid us for the service in the three months before the claim arose. Nothing in these terms limits rights you cannot waive under NZ law.

12. Queries and support

You may lodge a query with us at any time at davemc@mcpond.co.nz. We will respond within a reasonable time.

13. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. The New Zealand courts have non-exclusive jurisdiction.
